Introduction:
Launched in January 2010, UGalapagos takes students to the famed Galapagos Islands for a field-oriented semester of study. Through an academic partnership with the Isabela Oceanographic Institute, located in the picturesque community of Puerto Villamil on Isabela Island, UM offers a full five-course (16 credit) semester in Fall designed for science as well as non-science majors, and a five-course (15 credit) semester in Spring tailored to the needs and interests of students majoring in marine science and biology. Courses in both semesters will be taught sequentially as immersive two-week experiences by UM faculty experts. The program is open to qualified students from UM and other universities.
