Introduction:
The University of Mannheim is one of the top rated universities in Germany, particularly in the fields of Business, Economics, and Social Sciences. Der Spiegel magazine, the most respected news magazine in Germany, ranks Mannheim’s Business Administration (BA) program as the number one Business program in the country. On an international level, Mannheim holds the first AACSB (The International Association for Management Education, USA) in Germany as an accredited School of Business Administration. The University offers many courses taught in English in the fields of Business, Computer Science, the Social Sciences, and Humanities.

The University is also regarded as one of the most beautiful in Germany. Most of its facilities are housed inside the Mannheim Palace, which is the largest Baroque palace in the world. There are about 11,000 students at Mannheim. Exchange students can take advantage of the buddy system, where they are assigned a Mannheim student to offer support. There are also lots of sports and leisure activities. The university is located in the city center.

Students who study at the University of Mannheim may be eligible to apply for the Baden-Württemberg Scholarship to help with living expenses while abroad.

Language Requirement:
There is no language requirement for this program, as there are many courses taught in the English language. If students want to take courses in German, they must first take the German Language Exam that will determine placement in the university courses. Those who do not receive acceptable scores will not be able to take certain courses depending upon factors such as content and the amount of reading and writing required.

Language Program:
Mannheim offers students a 4-week preparatory German language class in August and January. The class has a registration fee of about 500 euros and counts for about 2 UM credits. This program is highly recommended for students to become familiar with the language, university and the city before the semester begins.

Prerequisites:
At least Sophomore standing. A minimum 3.0 GPA.
