Campus:
WU’s modern campus boasts a range of attractive dining options and publicly accessible grounds that encourage students, staff, and area residents to explore Campus WU and enjoy its unique atmosphere. Campus WU provides meeting places and open spaces and has given Vienna’s second district a whole new neighborhood.
Academic Areas:
The university offers a special program for exchange students taught in English in business and economics. There are about 130 courses per semester that are designed for exchange students. 90% of WU’s courses are taught seminar style, with active participation and attendance comprising integral pieces of the course.

Program Dates:
Winter Semester: late September – January (equivalent of UM fall semester)

Orientation Program:
All students must attend the
WU Welcome and Enrollment Session, which provides an overview of WU and Vienna.
Students may choose to participate in two optional programs in the weeks prior to the start of the semester, at an additional cost. The International Office offers an Orientation & Cultural Program that gives exchange students a more in-depth look at WU and Vienna, as well as an
intensive German language program (available at all skill levels).
Housing:
Exchange students have several options to choose from when booking housing for their stay. These options include, but are not limited to the following:
- Residence halls run by OeAD, the main housing provider for students in Austria
- A private flat that can be found for example through the housing platform Housing Anywhere
- Housing obtained through another third-party provider
WU has made pre-reservations in certain OeAD (Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research) residence halls to make sure that housing is guaranteed for incoming exchange students. Students who would like to make use of this offer need to register through the OeAD website by May 15th (winter semester) or November 15th (summer semester) at the latest.

Required Health Coverage:
WU requires all incoming exchange students to have health insurance coverage. Please check the information provided on whether or not you need to purchase any additional insurance.
Passport Requirements:
In order to go abroad, you must have a
valid passport that will not expire
during your time abroad or within 6 months upon your return.
Visa Requirements:
Nationals of non-EU countries and Switzerland need an entry visa or residence permit for entry into and residence in Austria. The type of permit depends on the length and purpose of the stay.
